General Information & FAQ

1. Can I cancel my Booking?

We will try to accommodate you as best we can where unforeseen circumstances arise. Rentals may be cancelled up to 24 hours prior to collection without a cancellation fee applicable. Where rental has been paid in advance, we will be happy to arrange an alternative date for rental within a three-month period. If you cancel your rental within 24 hours prior to collection, you will be liable for a cancellation charge of R 900.00

2. Is there an age limit?

Renters must be at least 23 of age a in possession of an unendorsed drivers' license for a minimum of two years. The same applies to foreign renters with International Drivers' Licenses.

3. What type of driver's license do i need

A valid code EB (South African) driver's license is required. The EB (Code 8) license entitles you to drive vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of up to 3,500 kg. Your license must not carry any endorsements and you must have been driving for at least two years. International driver's licenses will be accepted as long as the holder is over the age of 23 and has had a valid unendorsed license for a minimum of 2 years accompanied with a Passport from the same country. We also require a copy of your Identity document or a copy of a valid passport in the case of international clients.

4. What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Master Card, and Visa cards only. We also accept Cheque and Debit cards, but we do not accept cash.

5. Payment

Payment of the full rental amount is to be made in advance, either online prior to vehicle collection, or by credit/debit card on collecting the vehicle. A Rental deposit of R 8,000 will be payable prior to or on collection of the vehicle.

6. Rental booking deposit

We require a Rental deposit of R 8,000 per rental event which will be processed as a pre-authorised transaction on your credit card when you collect the vehicle. The deposit covers the insurance excess on your vehicle. Any damages, traffic fines and sundry administration charges will be deducted from the deposit when the vehicle is returned to our premises. Please refer to the MSH Terms & Conditions to understand what will and what will not be covered. The deposit (or remaining balance) will be refunded to you on return of the vehicle.

7. How long does it take for me to receive my deposit after returning a vehicle

The Rental Deposit will be held by MSH for the duration of your rental period to cover your rental amount and any additional charges that may be incurred. This amount may be held as a temporary authorisation or debited directly from your account depending on the payment card type you choose to use. a.If your deposit has been put on hold: MSH will process a pre-authorised hold of the deposit amount on your credit card when you collect the vehicle. Note that this is a “hold” and the transaction is not processed to your account.It will therefore not reflect as a debit or credit on your bank statement. Your bank will usually show this as a pending transaction that reduces the money you have available to spend. Provided that there are no extra charges at the end of your rental period, MSH will release the balance of the deposit due after deducting any miscellaneous charges as stated in the MSH Terms & Conditions. This will be done on return of the vehicle. Please note that we are not in control of your banks internal bank processes and cannot commit to when the refund will appear in your account. MSH undertakes to process the refund transaction immediately the vehicle is returned or within 5 working days. If you are using a Debit Card; Please note that if you are using an international debit card, a transaction fee of R 900 will be applicable.

8. What procedure must I follow if I have an accident 

In the unfortunate event of an accident in your hired car, follow the below steps: a.Remain calm and call for assistance for any injured persons. Do NOT leave the scene of the accident. b.Do NOT admit liability under any circumstances. c.Take down all details of any other parties involved / driver(s) / witnesses involved: Name, Identification number, Vehicle registration number, Insurance details and contact details. d.Notify MSH immediately. You can do so by calling or whatsapp message to the following numbers: e.John +27(82) 8 22 6299,Sean +27(82) 450 5557 f.Do not allow the vehicle to be towed away unless it is by somebody authorised to do so by MSH. Report the accident to the South African Police Service within 24 hours and make sure you obtain a reference or case number. g.Complete and submit a Damage Report when returning to MSH office or if a replacement vehicle is provided.

9. Collecting and Returning the Vehicle

Vehicles must be collected and returned in accordance with the times reflected on the specific hire package. If for any reason you are unable to meet these times, it is imperative that you advise MSH in advance so that we may advise other waiting clients. A late return penalty will apply where vehicles are returned more than one hour late. Any returns that are more than one hour late will attract a charge equal to one day’s rental.

10. What is the refuelling policy

All vehicles must be refuelled before they are returned to the MSH premises.If the vehicle is not refuelled prior to return, this function will be indertaken by MSH and the cost of the fuel plus an administration fee of R 150 will be deducted from your deposit refund.

11. Drinking & Driving 

The South African laws regarding drinking and driving have become very strict and being found over the legal alcohol limit of …….is a serious criminal offence. You may be arrested on the spot and face prison time. It is highly probable that the hire vehicle will be impounded and you will be held liable for your full rental costs as well as any other costs related to our recovery of the vehicle.

12. Smoking in the Vehicle 

Smoking in the rental vehicles is strictly prohibited and any evidence of smoking will result in a penalty of R 500 to cover the valet cost to remedy.
